Looking for a new spot to ride longboards in Toronto downtown? Check out Christie Pitts which is great 24 hours. The south east side has a fresh paved access road and in the Pitt is an empty wading pool for getting dizzy :) a great spot for all level riders to practice and session.

Shop Keeping

Our shop keeper, Kent keeps busy around the shop by keeping our racks full of completes and walls full of wheels. The view from our window is not a sandy beach but we see lots of concrete waves :)

Street Cruise Session - March 29th at 7pm

Join us on Friday, March 29th as we kick off our Side Street Surf season. This event is ideal for intermediate level riders who enjoy skating with a group of people. Swap Meet 2013

Big thanks to Roarockit and all the skaters who participated in today's swap meet. Lots of great gear was up for grabs at wicked prices. Also a few product launches and one off items.

Longboard living was selling some old stock that was traded into good hands for a new skate season.

Kicking it old school

Lately the weather has been turning nice for us in Toronto. Still very cool and you gotta keep it that way. So I pulled out a Blacklock longboard from the archives to surf the city streets free of snow. When speed and sliding seems like the only way to skate - always keep a little cruiser near by and remember your skateboard roots.

Keep it steady, balance is key

The longboard allows you to balance yourself while moving through life. It forces you to raise awareness and stay in check with your surroundings.

A lot of new riders are coming in, even now in the off season to ask questions about boards for beginners. We always recommend a drop deck because it ads stability and low and high speeds. Feeling comfortable is important to gain the confidence necessary to progress.

If you really need a handicap to get going you can even try a double drop deck, with drop through truck mounts.

Many people start riding on a pintail, the most classic surfboard style shape on the market. Our concern is that a pintail is higher off the ground and usually has some flex. Fun for cruising the board walk but less practical for getting comfy as a new rider.

Choosing the right deck is important and Longboard Living store and brand is a good place to ask questions and learn what might be right for you.

Years blow by

We have not been active on our blogger for a few years and are glad to be back. A lot has changes through the seasons including: our shop locations, the crew and the graphics on our skateboard deck line.

This winter we beat the winter blues with a trip to cancun to host a longboard slide jam and enjoy the perfect year round skate weather.
